A multiple-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Door County claims the life of a 78-year-old Florida man.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the accident on State Highway 42 north of Walker Road in The Town of Sevastopol around 2:45 p.m.
An initial investigation indicated that a vehicle, driven by the victim, was travelling northbound when he crossed the centerline and struck the rear tires of a trailer of a southbound semi.
The impact resulted in his vehicle striking a Ford Explorer, driven by a 60-year-old man. that had been pulled over on the southbound shoulder to try an avoid a potential collision.
The Florida man was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Explorer, along with a 53-year-old female passenger were taken to area hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries.
No names, including the identity of the deceased, will be released at this time as the accident remains under investigation.
