Bail was set at $40,000 cash this afternoon for a 41-year-old Manitowoc man who was taken into custody this week for allegedly stealing cash from a neighbor’s residence last weekend.
Charges against Brian D, Herdt include two counts of Burglary to a Building or Dwelling and Criminal Trespass to a Dwelling.
Officers were summoned to a southside home early last Sunday afternoon after the female occupant noticed money missing.
She also told police that after returning from a shopping trip late last week,
Herdt was standing in her bathroom, having gained entrance through an open window.
The following day, she noticed $20,000 in cash plus some collectible coins had been missing.
A search warrant was executed at Herdt’s residence on Monday where $675 and some of the missing coins were located.
Conditions of bail are that Herdt is to have “no contact” with the victim or her residence.
He remains in The County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for November 7th at 1:30.
