Not only is this game day for the Green Bay Packers, but it’s also the start of championship week in Madison.
Beginning this morning, there will be 7 state high school football championship games played on the turf at Camp Randall Stadium over the next 2 days.
The first contest on Barry Alvarez Field at 10:00 a.m. pits Regis of Eau Claire (13-and-0) against Shiocton 11-and-2 in the Division-7 finale.
The second of four games is in D-6 where 11-and-2 Stratford meets 12-and-1 Mondovi at 1:00 p.m., followed by the matchup in Division-5 between Aquinas of LaCrosse (12-and-1) and the undefeated Mayville Cardinals.
The nightcap at 7:00 for the D’-4 crown matches 2 unbeaten teams, Columbus and Catholic Memorial of Waukesha.
Friday’s state title games begin at 10 a.m. with undefeated Monroe facing off against 12-and-1 West Salem in Division-3, and the once-beaten Phantoms of West De Pere collide with 10-and-3 Kettle Moraine at 1:00 for all the marbles in D-2.
Then the large-school championship at 4:00 p.m. pitting Kimberly against Mukwonago.
Both the Papermakers and Indians are 12-and-1.
