Manitowoc – Lincoln High School is releasing its school at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 23, as police investigate a potential threat to the school community.
Shortly before school began Wednesday morning, school staff listened to a voicemail that had been left overnight.
The caller indicated that he would be bringing a bomb to school at noon today. The threat came from a cell phone number originating in Canada.
The Manitowoc Police Department is investigating in collaboration with the FBI and Canadian Police.
There will be extra police presence around the school today as the investigation continues.
“We are grateful for our local law enforcement’s vigilance to keep our students, staff and community safe,” Lincoln High School Principal Lee Thennes said. “The safety of our school community is our top priority and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement.”
He encouraged families to reinforce that it is against the law to call in a hoax threat and to urge everyone to report any information, including rumors, about a possible threat to school safety.
