The Kiel Police Department and community members gathered at the High School Saturday (November 27th) to honor the memory of a Kiel native who was killed in the line of duty.
Officer Steven Nothem II died on October 18th after his squad car was hit by a vehicle while he was assisting with a traffic stop.
Nothem was born in Kiel, graduated from Kiel High School in 2005, and spent 8 years in the Marine Corps.
During his military career, Notham served two tours in Iraq, before joining the Grand Chute Police Department.
After four years, there, he transferred to Carrollton Police Department, where he had served three years prior to his death.
Notham’s friends, and family, as well as fellow Marine Corps and Police Department members spoke at the weekend memorial, nothing his humble and gentle nature.
Notham is survived by his wife, 13-year-old son, twin 6-year-old sons, and 1-year-old daughter.
