The investigation into what caused a Manitowoc warehouse to catch fire is on going with no concrete answers to give. Fire Chief Todd Blaser says police and multiple insurance companies continue to do their due diligence t get to the bottom of what caused the fire at 102 Revere Drive, site of the former Manitowoc Dairy, during the early morning hours of October 26th.
Blaser says it’s sad to see a huge piece of Manitowoc’s history literally go up in flames, telling Seehafer News,
“People had come by after the fire and had expressed on how they had family members work there. Unfortunately for them those memories are gone now.
But for our operations, there were no injuries and I credit everyone that was involved who came together to combine efforts to pitch in and support one another to protect themselves and the community.”
Multiple agencies arrived on scene when the initial call was received about 1:15 a.m.. Blaser emphasizes that they rely on many volunteers to handle a fire as huge as this one.
“We had volunteers that by 7 a.m. should have been working somewhere else, but thy stuck by our side making sure that everyone left that scene safely.
This is another example of just how special community is in helping each other in a dire time of need.”
Crews were on hand for over 18 hours and returned several days afterwards to check for hotspots and help in cleanup efforts.
The building was ordered razed due to extensive damage of which a dollar amount may not be available for several weeks if not months to come.
