Work began yesterday morning on the Central Park West 365 Project in Downtown Two Rivers.
While on WOMT’s Be My Guest Program, City Manager Greg Buckley said he literally saw the work begin on his way to the office.
“Our city public works crews have backhoes, and loaders, and trucks out there,” he said. “They are doing the tree removals and preliminary excavation work for the footings for the new Schmitt Brothers stage. [We are hoping to] get the footings and foundations all pour early this month here, and the stage structure is supposed to arrive in late December, early January.”
Buckley explained that they are just a little more than $40,000 shy of their fundraising goal
“The City initially contributed $500,000 for the $1.6 million project. The West Foundation has generously pledged $300,000 in support,” he revealed. “We said ok, the challenge is to meet the other half from community fundraising and grants. We are over 95% of the way there.”
Granite engraved pavers remain for sale that will be arrayed in the area in front of the stage.
