A student at Roncalli High School will be performing at Carnegie Hall next month.
Trumpeter Matthew Bonin was selected to be a part of the Honors Symphonic Band which will perform at the historic music hall as a part of the High School Honors Performance Series.
Matthew has studied music for 11 years and is a member of the Roncalli concert band, pep band, and jazz ensemble.
He recently played lead trumpet in the school performance “Les Misérables.”
In response to their selection, Matthew said, “I am honored to play with extraordinary musicians from all over the world and excited to experience the music we create in Carnegie Hall.”
Nearly 10,000 applicants from around the world attempted to be selected for the Honors Band and only 350 performers were accepted.
The series will run from February 1st through the 5th, showcasing the very best high school musicians from around the world.
