The Manitowoc County Circuit Court Judges are warning of a jury scam that has hit the area.
An area resident reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be a jury coordinator. When the target claimed they never received a summons, the scammer asked for the target’s Social Security number and date of birth for verification.
Residents are being warned not to give out this information.
In a statement to Seehafer News, Robbie Marcelle, the Manitowoc County Jury Manager said, “The Jury Clerk from the Clerk of Circuit Court’s office in Manitowoc County will never ask you for this type of information over the telephone.”
If you receive such a call, you are encouraged to hang up the phone, and call the Manitowoc County Clerk of Court to verify if you have or have not been summoned to serve as a juror.
