Like many organizations, the Better Business Bureau puts together an annual report of the prior year.
CEO and president of the BBB of the state of Wisconsin Jim Temmer recently went over their findings on the Breakfast Club.
There were over 21,000 phone calls to their offices, but by far the biggest help to the public was their website.
“In 2022 we had just in Wisconsin, more than 2 and a half million visits to our website. You can get our reviews,” Temmer explained. “You can get grades. You see who’s an accredited business. Are there any complaints? All of that is free, and open to use for anybody.”
Temmer talked more about online trends in 2022, including the growing number of online shopping and delivery scams since the pandemic.
“Delivery scams, online purchase scams…they’re just growing exponentially,” he explained. “More people are falling for them because more people are doing this online.”
He also talked about a very useful interactive tool at the BBB’s website called “Scam Tracker” where consumers can share info online or look a business up.
“Since 2015 when we opened it, we’ve got about 231,000 reports,” Temmer revealed. “In Wisconsin, we’ve got over 5,000. That’s gone up 20% in the last year so I think that’s getting more and more popular as well.”
