A Brookfield alderman who opposes the construction of a new subsidized housing complex in the town is resigning from the city council.
Jenna Meza, who has served on the city council since 2020, announced her resignation yesterday.
She is the youngest city alderman at 27 years old.
Constraints pertaining to time and energy, Meza claims, are the reason she’s leaving.
During her time on the council, Meza was questioned, and fellow alderman Mike Hallquist filed an ethics complaint against her for promoting her real estate business during the Brookfield Fourth of July Parade in 2021.
Additionally, Meza opposes the proposed subsidized housing development on the east side of Brookfield.
She asserts that neither Brookfield nor the situation warrant it.
