For the first time since 2019, the Manitowoc County Figure Skating Club will be able to present a full ice show, and, that’ll be happening this weekend (March 18th and 19th)
There will be two shows each day at the Manitowoc County Ice Center starting at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.
With a lockdown in place, the 2020 show was canceled due to COVID-19 and then, events in 2021 and last year had restricted audiences.
Dave Pawlowski, the figure-skating club’s public relations spokesman, said they’re glad to be back to present MCFSC’s interpretation of “Fairy Tales.”
“People will get to hear music that they might classically think of related to the stories they see, as well as other songs that somehow, in a far-fetched way, connect to the story or fit the theme,” he explained. “You might see some appearances from some princesses, Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Mulan, even Anna, and Elsa.”
Pawlowski’s wife, Chris, is in her 27th year of directing the ice show. And he described her as the “driving force” behind it.
“She is in charge of making sure all the skating looks good, the costuming, she arranges for sound and lighting and music,” he noted. “We have people that prepare on-ice props. We have theatrical backdrops in the rink that transform the ice rink into a 200-foot by 85-foot stage.”
There are about 125 skaters in the show and they range in age from 3 up to adult.
He explained, “The focus is on the youth of the community and the ice shows are for them to display their skills and give something back to the community.”
Pawlowski said tickets can be purchased at the MCIC starting a half hour before each performance.
