In a vending machine, Milwaukee County provides Narcan and fentanyl test strips.
Dr. Ben Weston, the county’s health manager, says the goal is to reduce the number of accidental overdoses.
They are known as “harm reduction machines” by Weston.
Last year, drug overdoses claimed the lives of nearly 500 people in Milwaukee County, and another 5,000 people overdosed but survived.
The brand-new machine is located downtown at the Coggs Human Services Center.
Weston wants to have a machine in each of the 15 towns and cities in the county one day.
