The Valders School District is partnering with the Door County Candle Company to raise money for Ukrainian citizens.
The Door County Candle Company is owned by a Ukrainian, which has prompted them to donate over $800,000 in profits from their Ukrainian candles to a non-profit organization Razom, which means “unity/together”.
This organization uses the money to support Ukrainians.
The Valders School District is working to sponsor the Door County Candle Company, and their goal for the Valders community is to purchase at least 100 candles.
The fundraiser runs from March 13th to April 1st, and anyone can purchase a candle to help support this cause.
Various student-organized groups in the Valders middle school and high school have all come together to organize this fundraiser, including the Student Council, Sources of Strength (S.O.S.), Art Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and National Honor Society (NHS).
Music students have also put together a “Music in our Schools” concert where they promoted candle donations/sales.
