The wildfire at Fort McCoy burned for another full day Thursday.
The fire has scorched almost three thousand acres so far, according to the state’s Department of Natural Resources, and it is still blazing.
The National Guard was requested by DNR crews, and local fire departments have been battling the blaze.
The DNR reported that the fire was 50 percent contained as of around 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
The fort’s buildings were in danger from the fire, prompting the state to urge an evacuation of the region between Arcadia Avenue and U.S. Highway 12.
