Two Roncalli Middle School Students are in custody following a potential incident in the school parking lot Thursday.
Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer says that the school Administration contacted MPD after the two students had reportedly exchanged something that a student thought could potentially be a gun.
An investigation confirmed that one of the two students in question had brought an unloaded firearm onto school property.
Chief Reimer adds that this was determined to be an isolated incident and that there’s no information at this time that leads law enforcement to believe that there was any intention to cause harm at the school.
The unloaded weapon was turned over to police and the two students were placed under arrest and transported to The Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Center.
Names of the students are not being released and their parents have fully cooperated with authorities.
Charges include Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a person under the age of 18 and possession of a firearm in a School Zone.
