The four co-founders of Strand Adventures on Manitowoc’s near northside had a dream in 2018 when work began on the former multi-screen movie theatre.
Now, as the indoor activity center nears its 4th anniversary at the end of this month, Matt DiMarco, Mike Howe, Curt Hall, and Kurt Scherer are pleased with what’s taken place, despite the covid years.
Seehafer News asked DiMarco if he feels they’ve met expectations.
“Absolutely we have met expectations. We have exceeded expectations, even what Mike and I believed would possibly be the result,” he responded. “We knew there was a need and a desire in the community for fun, active things for kids to do in our winter and our inclement months.”
DiMarco added 2022 was a huge bounceback year for them with close to 50,000 tickets sold, not including parents and grandparents.
“I think all of us as owners were waiting with bated breath to see what would happen, and it was about spring break time, March 2022 when business really started to return,” he noted. “That was when we sort of resumed feeling more optimistic about the future of the business and that people were wanting to come back together and do active things.”
We also spoke with Mike Howe for this story and he reflected on the effect of marketing the business to surrounding areas.
“We are getting them from Sheboygan, Appleton, Green Bay, Door County, and much further when you look at our zip code database,” Howe explained. “We want to thank our customers and the people we have in our staff here. They do a real good job keeping them coming back.”
Howe also explains that they welcome feedback from patrons to keep things new and fresh.
And, he referred to a future addition.
