A Manitowoc County native and the founder of the Green Bay Blue Ribbons baseball team has died.
Denny Ruh passed away last Friday at the age of 82 following a brief health battle.
Ruh, who graduated from Valders High School, played, coached and eventually started his own team as the founder of the Blue Ribbons, a semi-pro squad that played in the Wisconsin State League at Joannes Stadium from 1970 to 1995.
As the first manager in team history, he led them to 12 state league titles and received WSL Manager of the Year 7 times.
Ruh was a driving force in keeping baseball in the greater Green Bay area, working with the Blue Ribbons, Sultans, and De Pere Dodgers.
Dennis (Denny) Ruh was a 1978 enshrinee in the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the Wisconsin State League, Green Bay Baseball, and Wisconsin Old Timers Halls of Fames.
A funeral mass will be held this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in De Pere, with visitation from 8:00 until 11:00.
