It was a day of fun and education at Farm Wisconsin in celebration of Earth Day 2023.
The theme on Saturday was “Robotics In Agriculture” with demonstrations and interactive displays showing how different cover crops are affected by rain and runoff.
The robotics featured a giant mobile cow-milking robot, and a feed-pusher robot resembling a giant Roomba.
Program Manager at Farm Wisconsin Abigail Winkel explains the purpose of the celebration.
“Our Earth Day celebration at Farm Wisconsin is really designed to highlight the facts that farmers are stewards of the land,” she explained. “They’re caring for water, the land, their animals. Every day is Earth Day for Wisconsin farmers. That’s what this event is doing…shining a light on that.”
Also on hand for the celebration was our 75th Alice In Dairyland Taylor Schaefer.
Besides giving a hands-on demonstration on how to make your own “seed bombs”, Schaefer also reminded us that June is coming quickly.
“National Dairy Month really pays tribute to the numerous ways Wisconsin dairy farmers contribute to our communities, protect our land, and farm for a sustainable future,” she tells Seehafer News. “So if you’re interested in planning out your National Dairy Month celebrations this June, visit WisconsinDairy.org/NationalDairyMonth.”
