Manitowoc Lincoln competed Friday at the De Pere Super 10 Boys Tennis Invite and wound up with one victory and two losses.
Coach Bob Feller tells Seehafer News the Ships were defeated by Marquette 7-0 as the #1 doubles tandem of Ayden Knuth and Cohen Newberg suffered their 1st loss 6-2, 6-2.
They did bounce back however to win their next two matches against doubles teams from Kenosha Indian Trail and Waukesha South.
Lincoln edged the Kenosha school 4-to-3 with victories at one doubles 5-7, 6-2 with a 10-5 tiebreaker, at 2 singles by Justin Liska, 3 singles player Seth Charles won a match tiebreaker and the #3 doubles team of Brailyn Farmer and Seth Shopodock won in straight sets.
Then in the Ships’ 4-3 loss to South, Lincoln’s wins came from Ray Peroutka at 1 singles 6-3, 4-6 and 12-10 in the tiebreaker, Seth Charles 6-4, 0-6, 10-8 in the tie break and the Knuth/Newberg combination 6-3, 6-1.
Saturday’s scheduled matches with Waukesha West and Oak Creek were rained out.
