The Door County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a potential threat in the Southern Door School District.
According to a letter Monday to parents and guardians, Southern Door High School Principal Steve Bousley said a threatening email was received by a select group of students over the weekend.
Bousley explained the situation remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department, individuals who specialize in Internet crimes are leading the probe and they’re hoping for a quick resolution.
A police presence was maintained at the school Monday and will continue today (May 2nd).
School administrators, staff and all personnel have stepped up building security measures to ensure the safety of all students.
The Southern Door principal and a school counselor have already met with the students directly involved in the threat and are continuing to offer opportunities for other students to meet with counselors or administrators if requested.
Bousley stated any questions regarding the specific investigation or information related to it, can be directed to the Door County Sheriff’s Department or to School Resource Officer Blake Luebker.
