Two Manitowoc residents who were taken into custody Tuesday on drug charges following a search of a southside residence appeared for bail hearings Wednesday afternoon.
52-year-old Matthew K. Vertz is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and Felony Bail Jumping while 48-year-old Jennifer C. Norrell is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
Police conducted a search of Vertz’s residence in the 800 block of South 13th Street and found numerous items of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
Vertz told investigators that he and Norrell had lived at the residence and admitted that the meth belonged to both of them and they shared it.
Norrell said that she used meth in the home but did not live there full-time.
Vertz allegedly resisted being placed in handcuffs but eventually cooperated and both he and Norrell were taken into custody without any further incident
Vertz remains in the County Jail on a $200 cash bail with conditions of release being that he have no contact with Norrell and maintain absolute sobriety.
His initial appearance is set for May 8th.
Norrell was issued a $1,500 signature bond with her lone condition of bail being that she maintain absolute sobriety.
She remains in The County Jail on a Probation Hold and is scheduled to return to court for an initial appearance on May 22nd.
