The very successful Girls Head Basketball Coach at Mishicot High School has announced that he’s stepping down after eight seasons.
Mike Garceau led the Indians to three state appearances including the school’s first-ever WIAA championship in 2021 and an overall coaching record of 146 and 51.
According to a story in the Herald Times Reporter, Garceau explained, “A big part of why I retired is if you want to do something like this, you have to bury yourself in it. It takes a toll being focused on basketball 12 months out of the year, but that’s what the job requires if you want to be successful.”
His daughter Abby has graduated from high school but Mike still has two sons at home, ages 17 and 12 and he wants to devote more time to them.
