Tonight‘s the night for the latest edition of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s Think & Drink series.
Tonight’s talk focuses on the World War 2 era…specifically in the time following the attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor, and Executive Order 9066 that forced over 125,000 Japanese Americans into internment camps.
UW Madison’s Joy Block will be the night’s speaker for “Japanese Internment, Racism, and Americanism” at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum at 6:30 p.m.
Doors and the cash bar will open at 6:00 p.m.
Emily Shedal of the Maritime Museum made an appearance on the WCUB Breakfast Club this week to discuss the program.
“UW Madison’s Joy Block will be our in-person speaker at the museum,” she told host Craig Dillon. “She’s going to talk about Japanese internment, the anti-Japanese sentiment during war time that swept across the U.S., and how that affected especially 2nd generation U.S. immigrants.”
For those who can’t make the event in person, you can live stream it from the museum’s website WisconsinMartime.org and from their Facebook page.
The event is free to access both in person and virtually.
