Bail is set at $2,500 cash for a 24-year-old Manitowoc man for allegedly causing a crash while under the influence.
Hunter J. Kiesner is officially charged with Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle Causing Injury, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting an Officer.
An off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy called in the crash to police at about 7:00 p.m. Monday that involved two vehicles at the intersection of North 18th and Michigan Avenue in Manitowoc.
Police say that Kiesner admitted to drinking two bloody marys prior to driving adding that they also noticed a strong smell of intoxicants on his breath.
Kiesner failed a field sobriety test and was taken to a local hospital for an evidentiary blood draw where he allegedly became resistant to and was berating officers.
He eventually cooperated and was taken into custody without further incident.
The three individuals in the second vehicle were hurt with one suffering from what were termed substantial injuries.
Their names and conditions have not been released. Conditions of bail are that Kiesner is to have no contact with the victims, maintain absolute sobriety, and is not allowed to operate any motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
He remains in the County Jail with an Initial appearance scheduled for May 15th at 1:30 p.m.
