Bail is set at $1,500 recognizance for a 40-year-old Manitowoc man who’s accused of trying to steal a fish finder from Fleet Farm over the weekend.
Eric M. Zukaitis is charged with Felony Retail Theft and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Officers were called to the Manitowoc business late Sunday morning on a report of a possible retail theft.
A man, who confronted Zukaitis at his vehicle, told police that he saw him walking towards the exit with an object in a cart when the security alarms went off.
The man also noticed the anti-theft device still on the box.
After confronting Zukaitis, the citizen took him down to the ground and held him there until officers arrived.
Security footage revealed that Zukaitis had taken the fish finder off the shelf, put it into his cart, and left without attempting to pay.
The lone condition of bail is that Zukaitis is to have no contact with any Fleet Farm store in Wisconsin.
His initial appearance is set for June 5th.
