Two Manitowoc Lincoln pitchers combined on a 4-hitter and the Ships took advantage of 6 Sheboygan South errors during a 9-to-1 boys baseball victory over the Redwings at Municipal Field Tuesday.
Brayden Steinbecker pitched the first 4 and a third innings followed by Brock Peterson in relief.
Junior shortstop Noah Wech paced the Lincoln offense by going 2 for 3 with a double, single, and 4 RBIs while teammate Bryce Erdmann rapped a pair of doubles and knocked in a run.
With the win, Coach Bruce Steinbecker’s club upped their season record to 12-and-2, 9-and-2 in the FRCC.
The Ships have a makeup game at Sheboygan North today (May 10th).
Prior to yesterday’s game, the brand new scoreboard at Municipal was formally dedicated.
Athletic Director Stan Diedrich gave kudos to the weather and praised the project’s sponsors Alliance Laundry Systems, Culvers, Phipps Construction, Parker Hannifin, and Nelson Truck and Equipment.
The scoreboard that had been in place was there for roughly 20 years and was probably 5 years past its lifetime and they had numerous issues with it.
So, Diedrich reached out to some local businesses to see if they’d be interested in sponsoring a new one and he said “they stepped forward and made it possible for the community, our school district, our kids, it’s incredible.”
