Inflation has taken a bite out of the most sound of budgets and a local organization reminds the Lakeshore that they are available to lend a helping hand.
Lieutenant Jenny Moffitt of The Salvation County of Manitowoc County tells Seehafer News that approximately 300 to 400 families per month visit their food pantry on Manitowoc’s northside.
“Each family can get up to 200 pounds of food and that can help them, especially if I have to make the decision between paying the rent or utilities or buying food for my kids,” she explained. “That’s a decision they shouldn’t have to make so the can subsidize their food needs by coming to our food pantry.”
Moffitt says the pantry isn’t you’re a typical grocery store, but, “We have a lot of those staple things. Pasta, dried and canned goods, soups, those kinds of things that can help your food dollar go further.”
Donations are always welcome.
They ask that you call ahead of time, or knock on the door so they know you are there or when you plan on arriving.
Moffitt adds that they are always in need of volunteers, especially for their upcoming “Christmas in July” event that will be held July 10th thru the 15th.
