Defense was the story on Saturday night as the Manitowoc County Mariners semi-pro football team evened its record at 1 and 1.
The Mariners dumped the Wisconsin Ravens 26-14 at Ron Rubick Municipal Athletic Field.
Defensive coordinator Rick Roulette’s unit intercepted 7 Ravens passes including 2 for touchdowns by rookie linebacker Noah Broderson and Lance Billings.
Lance came up with 3 picks alone, while defensive lineman Damien Bullock and rookie defensive back Branen Gordon also added interceptions.
Bullock registered a quarterback sack in the game for the Mariners, who play their first road game of the season next Saturday, May 20th against the Fox River Raiders at Winneconne High School.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
