In recognition of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Hmong American Day, the Manitowoc Public Library is once again hosting “A Celebration of Hmong Culture” starting at 6:00 tonight (May 18th).
The public is invited to attend this presentation featuring everything from traditional Hmong dress, dance, music, food, and more.
New this year are biographies of local Hmong people on the second floor, and 4 pieces of Hmong artwork that will be auctioned off.
Presenter of the night’s festivities Kanu Hang-Vu was on the WCUB Breakfast Club recently to invite the public and give a preview of the night’s festivities.
“This is free and open to the public. You don’t have to call and reserve a spot or anything…It’s open to everybody,” she explained. “I’m hoping that we do have a good Hmong crowd, but we also want everybody there.”
A Celebration of Hmong Culture takes place upstairs in the library’s Balkansky Community Room, and the library asks that children under the age of 8 be accompanied by an adult.
