“It’s been something that’s been tossed around for some time and my youngest son James said it’s time for us to do this.”
Those are the words of Jim Lepich as he prepares to host for the 33rd Manitowoc County Breakfast On The Farm Sunday, June 11th.
The Jim and Jane Lepich family own and operate Twin Cities Vue Dairy, located at 3416 Stone Road in Manitowoc.
Jim tells Seehafer News that he’s always had a passion for farming and purchased the property with its then 106 acres when he was only 23 years old.
“I started farming here on January 1st, 1974,” he explained. “We’re in our 50th year. On December 31st I’ll have 50 years of operations completed.”
Twin Cities Vue Dairy now encompasses over 800 acres with 740 head of cattle.
Kelly Wilfert serves as Committee co-chair for Breakfast on The Farm and tells us that the Lepich family is hosting the event for the first time.
“The family does a wonderful job taking care of their cattle and representing Manitowoc County,” she said. “They’re a wonderful family and we look forward to Twin Cities Vue Dairy hosting Breakfast on the Farm.”
Wilfert adds that Manitowoc County is ranked among the top 25 producing states in the nation.
“This is an excellent opportunity to come out and visit the farm, understand where that gallon of milk or block of cheese comes from, see how these cattle are treated, and celebrate this wonderful industry,” she explained.
Breakfast on The Farm runs from 8 to noon and the menu will consist of some of the traditional favorites such as cheese omelets, sausage, cinnamon bread, milk, and coffee.
New items include grilled cheese and deep-fried cheese curds.
There will also be a bounce house and games for the kids plus an opportunity to take a photo with a calf.
The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for those 5 to 10, and kids 4 and under eat for free
Parking is free, just watch for the signs.
