Manitowoc Lincoln will be sending athletes to the WIAA State Track & Field Meet in 6 events, following their performances last night at the Division 1 West Bend East Sectional.
The Ships contingent heading to La Crosse is led by sprinter Tessa Campbell and distance runner Mason Gates.
Campbell was a Sectional champion in the Girls’ 200-meter dash, a runner-up finisher in the 400 meters, and is part of the 2nd place 4 x 400-meter relay, also consisting of Breanna Jansky, Ava Bierman, and Audrey Rabitz.
Gates, meanwhile, won the Boys 3200 meter run and wound up 3rd in the 1600. Freshman Hallie Schroeter also qualified for state by placing 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles.
In the team standings, Lincoln finished 5th in the Girls’ Division and 11th in the Boys’ competition.
In the D-2 Sectional hosted by Little Chute, Two Rivers advances athletes to the State meet in 8-events.
Senior Mikaela Helling was a double champion for the Raiders, winning both the 1600 and 3200 meters.
Helling was joined in the winner’s circle by shot put champion Alexa Zimney and Boys Shot Put victor Christian Pyles.
Other TR qualifiers include Austin Phillips in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles, Nathan Jackson in the 200-meter dash, and the 4 x 200-meter relay comprised of Jackson, Phillips, Chase Matthias, and Bryan Villwock.
As a team, the Raiders were 6th in the Boys’ meet and 7th on the Girls’ side.
Also, Kiel athletes packing their bags for state include Charlie Freis in the Boys 100-meter dash, Brook Manz in the Girls’ Shot put, and 4 x 800 relay of Zoe Watson, Lily Watson, Addison Vogel, and Reafan Isselmann.
Brillion’s Megan Schuman is a triple-state qualifier in the Long and Triple Jump and is part of the Lions 4 x 200 relay also consisting of Sophia Galoff, Olivia Schuh, and Addie Wenzel.
Also, many of our local Track and Field athletes in Division-3 traveled to Marathon yesterday to compete in the WIAA Sectional.
State qualifiers by virtue of a top-4 finish included members of the Manitowoc Lutheran 4 x 200-meter relay made up of Caleb Uhlhorn, Kaeden Storzer, Jacob Kanzenbach, and Kaden Hagenow.
Valders had performers in 4 events qualify for the state meet, led by the Vikings Avery Kauth who won the Girls’ Triple Jump and finished 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles.
Hannah Welch was runner-up in the 1600-meter run and the 4 x 800-meter relay team is also making plans for state.
Hilbert athletes qualified for La Crosse in 4 events, led by Austin Cullen in the Boys’ 100 and 200-meter dash and the Long Jump.
Liliana O’Leary of the Wolves qualifies in the Girls’ Shot put.
