It’s the most recent illustration of Wisconsin’s battle with fentanyl.
According to a recent report from Forward Analytics, fentanyl is Wisconsin’s top killer of people between the ages of 25 and 54.
Between 2015 and 2021, fentanyl caused the deaths of over 4,300 people, with more than half of those fatalities occurring just in 2020 and 2021.
According to the report, 614 people died from fentanyl in 2015.
In 2021, that figure more than doubled to 1400.
In Wisconsin, fentanyl kills more older people than liver disease and kills twice as many young people as car accidents.
