The Lincoln Park Zoo in Manitowoc will soon see exhibit renovations and a new animal.
Last year, the Zoo released plans to convert the former timber wolf exhibit into a new area for their mountain lions.
However, the Zoo decided to change the project due to issues surrounding the COVID-19 virus and the cost of brand-new fencing.
Now, they will be converting the space for their new coyotes.
Renovations to the exhibit will begin with new concrete flooring in the housing area, clearing the exhibit yard, and enhancing the landscaping to be more like their natural environment.
An interactive viewing window will also be installed to enable a face-to-face viewing experience with the coyotes.
There will also be two other improvements made to the current exhibits.
Due to the presence of harmful bacteria in the prairie dog exhibit, steps will be taken to empty, clean, and refill the exhibit.
The mountain lion exhibit will also be seeing a more mountainous terrain, to better resemble their natural environment.
