A Minnesota prison guard, according to investigators, was shot and killed earlier this month in St. Croix County during an officer-involved shooting.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 42-year-old Tyler Abel.
Abel was employed as a guard at the prison in Stillwater, Minnesota, according to the sheriff.
According to Minnesota prison officials, Abel was “well-liked and highly regarded.”
On June 3, his wife called 911 and reported that her husband was “out of control” and was on his way to “get his ARs.”
When Abel left his home carrying a gun, a New Richmond police officer and a St. Croix County deputy opened fire and killed him.
