Several students at Green Bay’s Lombardi Middle School have been issued citations after an organized sit-in.
The actual sit-in took place on May 24th, but the citations of Loitering and Disorderly Conduct are just now being announced.
The students who put together the protest say that many students have been the victims of bullying at the school and that the adults in the building weren’t helping.
One student said that at least one of the targets was a sexual assault victim and that the bullies were making fun of her for it, and saying she was asking for it.
Others say that threats are made in the halls on a regular basis.
Lombardi Principal Seth Meinel sent a letter to families, which noted that “Students who chose not to return to class did receive consequences that were in accordance with board policy” before noting that all students are required to have read and sign the Student Expectations Handbook.
