A 60-year-old Manitowoc man who is a suspect in an attempted murder last month has made his initial court appearance.
Court records show that David J, Downs appeared with his legal counsel on June 5th on charges of Attempted First Degree Homicide, Obstructing an Officer and two counts of Substantial Battery.
Officers were sent to a residence in the 400 block of Riverview Drive in Manitowoc after witnesses observed a man  stabbing the victim with a butcher knife and repeatedly kicking him.
The victim required life-saving surgery for his stab wound, which was successful.
His name, or motive for the attack have not been disclosed or released.
Downs remains in The County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing August 17th.
