On Saturday, June 24th, amateur radio operators from Manitowoc County’s Lakeshore Amateur Radio Service Club will be participating in a nationwide ARRL Field Day.
The ARRL (National Association for Amateur Radio in the United States) hosts this event annually ever since the year 1933, allowing “hams” (amateur radio operators) to demonstrate their radio skills.
Hams across the country create temporary radio stations in public locations where they send their radio signals across many miles and many communities.
Field Day recognizes ham’s hard work to maintain their radio’s reliability under any number of circumstances.
This year, the Lakeshore Amateur Radio Service Club will operate from Citizen Park in Manitowoc from 9 am to 5 pm, and questionable weather conditions are to be expected.
This will give hams the chance to further demonstrate their skills in radio technology and communications.
From ages 9-100, ham operators are ready to show the community what they’ve got.
