A lot has been going on at the state Capitol in Madison, including budget negotiations.
Senator Andre Jacque was on the WCUB Breakfast Club on Monday, where he spoke about upcoming and recently passed bills as well as the budget process that has been in the works.
He said that he is “expecting it’ll be pretty busy in Madison next week as we try to wrap things up.”
He explains that the budget process has been touch-and-go due to the bipartisan tendencies of the finance committee.
In addition to the discussion over the budget process, Jacque says that a handful of bills are in the works to be passed, including a protection bill that has a hearing this week.
“I have a hearing coming up this week on another one of my election bills,” the Senator explained. “It deals with whistleblower protection for clerks and election officials.”
Other bills being passed include support for domestic violence victims, working to achieve better lives for those with disabilities, and regulations on manure composting to better water quality.
