Every year hundreds of people gather to celebrate the Two Rivers Sundae Thursday event.
The usual spot for the event, Central Park, is currently undergoing renovations which lead to Thursday’s event being relocated to 17th Street.
This event is run by the parks staff along with volunteers.
Rebecca Hansen, one of the coordinators of the event, tells Seehafer News a lot of prep work goes into the event each year.
“We have our maintenance and park staff that come in and they set up all the tents, tables, the stages, sounds systems, things like that,” she explained. “There’s a lot of prepping of getting the ice cream prepped and the toppings, getting volunteers, and organizing the family entertainment, the band, bounce houses.”
In fact, she said that its the volunteers that make this event possible.
“They’re doing it all,” Hansen said. “They do the cashiering, they do the scooping, they do the topping, they help run and refill, they volunteer for whatever they need.”
Sundae Thursday is held every year to commemorate Two Rivers being the home of the ice cream sundae.
