The number of home sales in Manitowoc County for May dropped by nearly 30 percent when compared to the same month in 2022.
According to the latest statistics from the Wisconsin Realtors Association, sales of existing homes, locally, last month totaled 73 as opposed to 104 last year.
The median price increased during that time from $178,500 to $201,000, a jump of 12 and a half percent.
For the first 5 months of 2023, sales were off by 27% and the median price went up 12 percent.
Statewide, the WRA said unmet demand and tight supplies continued to hamper home sales and drive up prices just ahead of the prime homebuying season.
Sales fell by 21.5% from May a year ago and prices increased almost 7% over the last 12 months.
And, the inventory problem has not improved over the last year.
