A 21-year-old Madison woman won the title of Miss Wisconsin 2023 Saturday evening in Oshkosh.
Lila Szyryj was selected for the honor from a field of 25 candidates representing their communities across the state.
Szyryi, competing as Miss South Central, is a 2022 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
She receives $12,500 in scholarships along with other gifts and awards, and the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss America 2024.
Lila also won preliminary talent and evening wear award honors, earning an additional $750 in scholarships.
First Runner-up in the pageant held in the Alberta Kimball Auditorium was Miss Rock River Valley, Mandi Genord of Montello.
Miss Harbor Cities, Gabrielle Premus of Webster, South Dakota, and the “People’s Choice” winner was named a Top-11 semi-finalist.
