The USGA U.S. Senior Open begins play on Thursday at Sentry World Golf Course in Stevens Point, but fans are being invited to enjoy the course during the practice rounds Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tournament participants, including Wisconsin’s own Steve Stricker, will be warming up on the course starting at 7:00 a.m. on both days, and fans are welcome to watch.
Steve Marino, who is helping run the Senior Open told Seehafer News that the USGA actually held an event at Sentry World in 2019.
Marino tells us they “ended up loving their experience here.”
As for how the Stevens Point course was granted this year’s tournament, Marino said “(They) put their name in the hat, and USGA loved what they saw the first time, (so) they were awarded the host site designation for the 2023 U.S. Senior Open.”
We will hear more from Marino throughout the week, as the competition officially gets underway on Thursday.
Tickets are available online at USSeniorOpen.com, or at SentryWorld.com, and will be available at the gate.
