Participants in the 2023 U.S. Senior Open are hitting the Sentry World Golf Course today (June 27th) as they begin to warm up for the four-day tournament, which kicks off Thursday.
For some of the golfers, today’s practice round will be (is) the first time they get to experience the course, which features two iconic holes.
The first one is hole #12, which event organizer Steve Marino tells us is deceptively tricky.
“It’s a kind of peninsula green there, all carry-over water,” he explained. “Depending on which way the wind is blowing, you hit it a couple yards right, you are going to be in that water. It’s a difficult hole for sure, but a great par 3.”
But one of the most beautiful holes around can be found just four holes later, the colorful #16.
“It’s roughly 180 yards from the back tee, par 3,” he said. “Sentry World plants, every year, roughly 35,000 flowers around the green, and some of the fairway and approach areas. It’s an absolutely gorgeous golf hole that will really be one of the shining stars of the show.”
You can get a full tour of the course by going to the SentryWorld website.
Those who wish to attend the U.S. Senior Open in Steven’s Point can get tickets ahead of time at either USSeniorOpen.com, or SentryWorld.com, but they will also be available at the gate.
