The family of the young Fond du Lac boy who recently died after being hit by a car has decided to keep his legacy alive.
7-year-old David Custance died Sunday after he was struck by a car Friday evening in the 500 block of East Pioneer Road.
His family said their final goodbyes over the weekend as he remained on life support, but following his death, the family allowed doctors to harvest his organs for donation.
The incident itself is still under investigation, but witnesses have stated that Custance darted onto the road from a bush, which is when he was hit by the SUV being driven by a 53-year-old woman.
She has not been cited as of yet with a full report expected to come out in the next couple of weeks.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family to cover medical expenses.
