Many citizens of Two Rivers have been curious as to when the old St. Mark’s Roman Catholic School will be cleaned up, as it’s turned into an overgrown and rustic part of the city.
Built in 1918, the school has been discarded and now merely sits unoccupied.
The plan was to convert the land into a new housing complex back in 2016, but no developments were made.
While on WOMT’s Be My Guest Program this week, City Manager Greg Buckley explained that “Within the last two weeks, our planning and zoning office and code enforcement have been in touch with the current owner. Something has got to happen there.”
As they work to come to an agreement with the current owner of the school, Buckley noted the development of the old St. Marks church.
“The old church is being put to good use,” he said. “The CP Center of Green Bay has a satellite facility there and I believe the old Convent and Rectory are each for rental housing, but the old school is an eyesore.”
More updates to come as agreements are made between the planning and zoning department and the owners of the school.
