Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin expressed his openness to discussing a more comprehensive tax cut proposal, but he emphasized the importance of a reciprocal agreement.
During an interview with a Madison TV station over the weekend, Governor Evers clarified his decision to veto the Republicans’ $3.5 billion tax cut included in the state budget, citing its broad scope as the reason.
The governor indicated his willingness to engage in negotiations for a fresh tax cut plan, contingent upon Republican lawmakers’ proposals for other legislative measures.
As a result of the governor’s veto, the majority of tax cuts for individuals earning over approximately $38,000 per year in Wisconsin were effectively eliminated.
