No one was injured late Monday afternoon as a result of a housefire in the city of Kiel.
Fire Department Public Information Officer Kyle Preissner said fire, police, and ambulance personnel responded to the report of smoke in a house at 48 East Chicago Street just before 4:30 p.m.
When an engine unit pulled up to the scene minutes later they observed smoke coming out the front windows.
After being told the residents of the home had safely evacuated, firefighters deployed hose lines and extinguished the flames in the room of origin within a few minutes.
Crews remained on the scene for an hour and a half conducting salvage, overhaul, and ventilation operations.
Preissner indicated there’s no damage estimate but the cause of the fire is believed to be misuse of soldering equipment.
