Dan Schmitz and Reece Stangel both ripped three-run homers and two Manitowoc pitchers combined on a 3-hit shutout to lead Legion Post 88 to a 9-0 victory at Marinette last night.
It marked the 11th consecutive win for Kevin Stangel’s team, now 14-and-4 on the season.
Schmitz started the scoring with his 3-run shot in the top of the first while Stangel’s blast came in the third inning.
Bryce Erdmann also went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Kiel High School’s Nathan Stephany picked up the win working the first 5 innings and allowing 2 hits to go along with 8 strikeouts.
Gavin Lettenberger finished up and allowed just 1 hit while registering a strikeout in his 2 inning appearance.
Manitowoc now has a couple of days off before competing in the Plover Tournament, where they’ll face Eau Claire on Friday.
