The newly renovated Central Park West in Two Rivers will be dedicated this Sunday and city officials are planning a party.
City Manager Greg Buckley says the $1.75 million project has re-invented the long-time downtown gathering space to offer a wider variety of activities, year-round.
Major features of the renovated park include the new Schmitt Brothers stage, named for four brothers from Two Rivers who were crowned world champion barbershop quartet in 1951, a new Park Pavilion with public restrooms and a large multi-purpose room, the Pavilion Patio, a winter ice-skating loop with synthetic ice, a splash pad, and a picnic island.
The city has committed up to $550,000 to the project. Community fund-raising has brought in over $830,000 and a state grant of $50,000 was just announced this week.
Sunday’s activities will run from noon to 7:30 PM.
